   The Black Homesteaders - This session will discuss the Homestead Act of 1862 and the implications for African American researchers searching for public land under this act. You will also learn about the public land states; the eligibility requirements; the application process to acquire this land, and how to locate a land patent using the Bureau of Land Management website:
