This year, we are pleased to offer 20 classes. Each class is taught by experienced researchers with specialized areas of expertise.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: James Hastings, Director Special Media Archives Services Division, National Archives & Records Administration
Topic: “The Democratization of Access: The Digitization Strategy of Your National Archives”

The National Archives has embarked on an ambitious initiative to digitize its vast collection of historical documents. Mr. Hastings has the responsibility of negotiating partnerships with organizations such as Footnote.com and FamilySearch.org to to work with NARA in meeting its goals. In his keynote address, Mr. Hastings will address NARA's current and future digitization projects and give insights into the workings of Access Programs, which has responsibility for all description, reference, and access review activities pertaining to the textual and non-textual records in the National Archives buildings in Washington D.C. and College Park, Maryland.

LUNCH:

  • ♦  There will be a 1/2 hour lunch break between 12:15-12:45.
  • ♦  This year, a brown bag lunch will be offered. It must be ordered and purchased in advance. For a menu and order form, please click here: brown bag lunch
  • ♦  If you choose to bring a lunch, please bring one that does not require refrigeration.
Please note that there are no restaurants or fast-food outlets nearby. Also, these lunches are being managed by a local Young Women's organization not the Conference organizers.

SYLLABUS INFORMATION:
A syllabus featuring handouts from each class will be available on CD, at a cost of $5.00. Payment by cash or check only will be accepted when you check in on the day of the conference. If you wish to order a CD Syllabus, please indicate this on your registration form.

ACCOMMODATIONS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES:
Please let us know if you need an accommodation. There is a text box at the bottom of the Registration Form where you can type how we can be of assistance to you on the day of the conference.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO THE CONFERENCE:
  • ♦  From the Washington Beltway 495, Take Exit 33, Connecticut Avenue to Kensington.
  • ♦  Make a right turn on Beach Drive and continue until it dead-ends at Stoneybrook Drive.
  • ♦  Make a left turn on Stoneybrook Drive and go up the hill.
  • ♦  The Washington DC Stake Center is the third entrance on the left at 10000 Stoneybrook Drive, Kensington, MD 20895.
